Continental Army Associates offers a range of services to people interested in aspects of military history.
Master bibliographies are available for a wide variety of topics relating to the military history of the United States and of the rest of the world. These bibliographies are focused on articles that have been published in periodicals, but also include many books. They are not intended to be comprehensive but rather to provide a solid base for our clients that allows them to efficiently focus their research.
In keeping with Continental Army Associates' primary expertise we have assembled a special set of bibliographies covering Early American military history, spanning the period from initial settlement to the adoption of the Constitution. These bibliographies are more detailed than the others, and do include a complete list of books as well as articles, dissertations, and manuscript holdings.
The early American bibliographies are organized into several groups:
A typical search for the activity of a specific unit or person in the war would begin with the state bibliography and then add selections from the bibliographies of the relevant campaigns. Identification of campaign participation by Continental Army units is found in The Continental Army (1983).
Continental Army Associates also provides personalized advice to researchers in the form of laying out a research strategy that obtains maximum results with minimum waste of time and energy. A dialog will determine needs and present an array of options (with price quotations).
